The Bell Hotel

It is said that the spirit of Betty Radcliffe, the owner of the The Bell Hotel in 1564, haunts Room 12 and that when her apparition is imminent people can see fingerprints on the inside of the glass frame that protects the exposed original wattle & daub wall of this ancient coaching inn.

The story goes that Betty threw herself from the window to her death on the cobbles below after being jilted by her lover. Another theory is that Betty was murdered by her lover and ten thrown from the window. A paranormal investigator made contact with a woman named Mary who told the psychics that she had been strangled and left on the bed in room 12.
