Ruthin Castle

LL15 2NU

Tel: 01824 702664

Ruthin Castle (the "Red Fort") originally dates from before 1277 and dominates the historic Welsh countryside market town of Ruthin. The Grey Lady is a regular visitor...

Ruthin Castle's wood panelled entrance hall is warmly lit and several of the inner rooms have the added warmth of beautifully carved stone and wood fireplaces with open fires that make them cosy despite their scale.

Original oil paintings line the Inner Hallway and are to be found in several of the public rooms.

The castle has a proud, centuries-old tradition of providing hospitality and comfort including hosting numerous Royal guests. It is difficult not just to feel welcome but also to feel part of the great history of the castle and those that have come before.

The Bedrooms

Many of the 62 bedrooms are comfortably large and each has its own individual personality. Most rooms enjoy views over the 30 acres of gardens, parkland and woods of the estate and towards the surrounding Welsh mountains (at times snow-capped in Winter). All bedrooms are within the main buildings and upper floors are served by lift.

Many rooms have four-poster beds and original fireplaces (currently not in use) and most have original antique pieces of furniture. A small number of family rooms and suites are available.

All rooms have fully en-suite bathrooms, offer room service and have:
* hairdryer, bath and/or shower
* remote control colour television
* radio
* hospitality beverages
* direct dial telephones with data port.

There is a fully equiped gym, leisure suites, offering a variety of treatments, massages etc.

We have porters on shift 24 hours a day to offer any services our guests require.

Award winning restaurant

There are acres of ground here at Ruthin castle and it is often nice to have a stroll around the gardens and explore the ruins or have a guided tour by our staff at Ruthin castle.

Hotel Reviews

I would highly recommend a stay here. The hotel is beautifully situated, steeped in history. The staff are freindly, welcoming and accomodating. Would highly recommend the Medieval Banquet. Lots of fun. Watch out for the suit of armour on the stairs - when we had our photos developed there were eyes staring out at us. So very likely to be haunted. A great place to stay.
